From the Baltic Sea to the Global Ocean – an ocean modelling project
This project comprises several ocean circulation model setups, including biogeochemistry. The aim of our work is to provide reliable tools for projections. We identify major causes for contemporary model uncertainties and develop measures to reduce these uncertainties. To archive our goal we combine ultra-high resolution modelling with modern data mining and machine learning techniques. Because of its exceptional high density of observations the Baltic Sea is pivotal in our research. It serves us as a test bench to develop new ideas with potentially global implications.
